Mike Myers signs up for 'Basterds' role

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Canadian-born actor-comedian Mike Myers has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's World War II picture "Inglourious Basterds."

The "Saturday Night Live" alum was most recently seen in the big-screen comedy "The Love Guru." He has also starred in the "Austin Powers" and "Wayne's World" blockbusters.

Variety.com said Myers has signed up to play a British general in "Inglourious Basterds," starring Brad Pitt and Eli Roth.

Tarantino has also been talking to Simon Pegg, Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz and B.J. Novak about taking on roles in the movie, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

The movie is scheduled to start shooting in Germany this October.
