LONDON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Gary Glitter's attorney says the pop singer, who spent three years behind bars for lewdness with children in Vietnam, plans to return to England next week.
Glitter, 63, is serving a three-year sentence at the Thu Duc prison in Binh Thuan province for committing obscene acts with two girls, ages 10 and 11.
He was arrested in November 2005 at Ho Chi Minh airport as he attempted to leave Vietnam.
The Times of London reported that police intend to meet Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, when he arrives in England next week after his release.
Gadd's passport reportedly expired while he was in prison and he has only been given a one-way travel document home.
Home Office sources told The Times that police are expected to interview Gadd upon his arrival. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
Gadd said in a recent interview that he needed to seek medical and dental attention in England, then revealed he hopes to relocate to Singapore or Hong Kong to be near friends.
The Vietnamese Foreign Affairs department has rejected requests for work visas from foreign journalists who want to write about Gadd's release, the newspaper said.
