LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Quentin Tarantino wants his fellow U.S. filmmaker Eli Roth to play a part in his new World War II picture, "Inglourious Basterds."

Variety.com said Roth, the director of "Hostel," is in talks to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz, "a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter," in Tarantino's latest flick.

Roth previously had a small part in "Grindhouse," the double feature Tarantino made with Robert Rodriguez.

Roth also helmed one of the over-the-top movie trailers that played during the "Grindhouse" gorefest, while Tarantino was an executive producer on "Hostel," Variety.com said.

Brad Pitt also is in talks for a role in "Basterds," which Tarantino is expected to begin shooting this fall in Europe, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.

Tarantino's other film credits include "Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill."
