Dupri party disrupted by gunshots

ATLANTA, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Rapper Jermaine Dupri says his party at an Atlanta nightclub was disrupted by gunfire, which left a security guard with minor injuries.

Dupri told People.com no one close to him was injured early Saturday when someone fired a gun inside the Dreamz ATL nightclub where rappers Nelly and Usher also were partying.

"I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues," Dupri said.

DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge said the incident occurred after club security guards double-charged several attendees.

A party guest identified only as Nigel D told People.com that following the shooting, police detained all guests until an initial investigation could be conducted.

"I got outside, and the cops shut the club down," the guest said. "No one inside could leave and no one outside in the parking lot could leave either. One of my friends was stuck inside the club and people were scared that the shooter was still inside."
