"Hancock" premieres in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- U.S. film actor Thomas Jane has been cast in an hourlong pilot for "Hung," a dark comedy directed by "Sideways" writer-director Alexander Payne.

The Hollywood Reporter said Jane will play a middle-age high school basketball coach in "Hung," which was written by Colette Burson and "The Riches" creator Dmitry Lipkin. Payne is also executive producer for the pilot.

If it gets picked up, it would mark Jane's first starring role on a television series. Best known for his roles in "The Mist" and "The Punisher," Jane is married to "Medium" star Patricia Arquette.
