TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., July 27 (UPI) -- Pop singer Madonna will unveil her new documentary, "I Am Because We Are," at a film festival in Traverse City, Mich., residents say.

Mark Haworth, who manages a restaurant in Traverse City, said the city is excited the "Material Girl" will participate in the Traverse City Film Festival and debut her movie about orphans in Malawi, the Detroit Free Press reported Sunday.

"It's definitely generated a lot of excitement. A lot. It's the talk of the town," Haworth said.

Documentary director Michael Moore, who founded the annual festival in 2005, told the Free Press while Madonna's appearance will undoubtedly cause a stir, her work will likely be just as awe-inspiring.

"It's going to be an electrifying moment. There's only going to be 500 people in the theater. Usually, if you want to see Madonna, you're in a 20,000-seat arena," Moore said of the festival, which runs from Tuesday to next Sunday. "Ten minutes into the film, you're going to forget about all the noise that surrounds the celebrity aspect of this and get into the film in a deep and personal way."
