Cole entertained a crowd of about 230 last weekend during the celebration, marking the debut of the ballroom at Point Breeze, a historic landmark in Nantucket Town being transformed into a private club and residences by Matthews Hospitality Group LLC.

"Natalie Cole is an exceptional talent and human being," Robert V. Matthews, a real estate developer and principal of Matthews Hospitality Group, said in a statement. "I am thrilled to welcome her to Point Breeze -- both as an entertainer and founder member. Her performance offers a preview of the caliber of entertainment Point Breeze will showcase."

Cole opened her set with "Fever" and went on to sing songs from her upcoming album, "Still Unforgettable," which is to be released Sept. 9. Her rendition of "Unforgettable" led to a standing ovation, the event's organizers said.
