BOSTON, July 21 (UPI) -- A Boston couple has told the makers of "Edge of Darkness" not to film the police drama in their building because they don't want star Mel Gibson there.

The couple's nephew, Brian Keaney, who writes for the blog MyDedham.org, told The Boston Globe his aunt and uncle were initially thrilled by the prospect of having their building appear in a movie.

"Until they found out Mel Gibson was involved," Keaney told The Globe. "The whole family's very proud of them for standing up to (Gibson.) You can't make comments like that and get away with it."

Keaney told the newspaper his aunt and uncle denied the filmmakers permission to shoot at their building this fall because they were upset by anti-Semitic remarks Gibson reportedly made during his 2006 drunken driving arrest in California.

"I think the filmmakers might come to my uncle and aunt later and see if this has blown over," Keaney said. "But the answer's going to be the same."
