LOS ANGELES, July 20 (UPI) -- "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric says she doesn't intend to part ways with the U.S. network despite reports of her ratings struggles.
Couric said while CBS' evening broadcast has fallen behind its counterparts at NBC and ABC, she does not plan on leaving the media group in the near future, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.
"I have no plans to leave any time soon. I'm very committed to the people here and the product," Couric said Friday.
CBS News President Sean McManus echoed Couric's comments, saying his news group had no plans to remove Couric from her post following the presidential election, The New York Times reported.
"I can say, and I have said, it isn't true," he said of such reports.
The Daily News said Couric also denied ongoing reports that mainstream media was favoring Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., over Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the politicians' run for the White House.
"I don't think we're 'in the tank' at all," Couric said. "We talk to Sen. (John) McCain extensively. We go to events he allows us to cover."
