Settlement reached in Troyer lawsuit

LOS ANGELES, July 19 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Verne Troyer has dropped his lawsuit over a sex tape after the suit's defendants agreed not to market the video, his attorney says.

Attorney Edwin F. McPherson said Troyer, who played the villain Mini Me in the "Austin Powers" comedies, has ended his litigation against a celebrity sex-tape broker and an adult film distributor, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

"We got what we wanted: a permanent injunction," McPherson said of Friday's agreement.

Troyer made the sex video with a now former girlfriend, Ranae Shrider.

The settlement means broker Kevin Blatt and distributor SugarDVD will not be able to distribute the video without the actor's permission.

The attorney said his client, who also dropped a related lawsuit against TMZ.com for featuring portions of the video, would never agree to have the explicit video sold to the general public.

McMahon sues over fall injuries

LOS ANGELES, July 19 (UPI) -- A Los Angeles hospital and billionaire are responsible for the broken neck Ed McMahon suffered in a 2007 fall, a lawsuit by the former TV entertainer alleges.

McMahon's suit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleges the injury he suffered in a fall at a March 2007 dinner party at TCW Group founder Robert Day's home, was not properly diagnosed by a Cedars-Sinai Medical Center doctor, People magazine reported Friday.

The suit alleges the attending doctor missed the 85-year-old former "Tonight Show" personality's broken neck during his initial hospital visit and the injury wasn't discovered until weeks later.

"We had hoped to avoid a lawsuit, but our discussions were not fruitful and we were left with no other option," Howard Bragman, a spokesman for the popular TV pitchman, told People "That being said, we believe our suit has great merit and we expect a favorable resolution."

Emanuel sinking teeth into 'Maneater'

LOS ANGELES, July 19 (UPI) -- Actor Michael Emanuel says he will make his directorial debut with the Hollywood production "Maneater," a movie based on an American Indian legend.

The "ER" actor said the movie, which will be produced by Emanuel's Canal Street Films, follows a small-town sheriff investigating several unusual killings, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

"It's a story that was told to me by an old Native American back in the late '70s," Emanuel said. "It's based on the Western Ojibwa (Chippewa) legend of the Windigo."

Emanuel's production company is casting the thriller and will begin filming July 30.

Emanuel is known for his appearances on the TV series "The Nine." He also produced the recent horror movie "The Uninvited."

Hudgens expresses love for Efron

COCKBURN TOWN, Turks and Caicos Islands, July 19 (UPI) -- Actress Vanessa Hudgens says she is in love with her "High School Musical" co-star Zac Efron, with whom she spent time in the Caribbean this month.

The 18-year-old actress, who came under fire this year when a nude photo of her appeared online, spent some quality romantic time with her 20-year-old co-star at the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.

Risque photographs of the vacationing couple come after Hudgens expressed how she and her fellow Disney celebrity are deeply in love.

"If you really love someone, you shouldn't have to work at it," she said. "You finish each other's sentences and have the same sense of humor."

The young actress also dismissed the possibility of either celebrity appearing in another "High School" movie now that they have reached college age.

"Not for us,' Hudgens told the Mail of a potential addition to the $250 million movie series. "We're pretty much done, I think."
