LOS ANGELES, July 18 (UPI) -- New Zealand-born country music star Keith Urban said in a posting on his Web site that being a new dad is "pure bliss."

Urban's wife, actress Nicole Kidman, gave birth to their first child, Sunday Rose, last week.

"Like any of you who are parents yourselves, we're experiencing the pure bliss of welcoming her into our lives," Urban said in a posting dated Thursday on his Web site. "We're all doing superbly well and we continue to be absolutely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and well wishes we are receiving."

People.com said Urban also expressed his gratitude to fans for "your beautiful notes and prayers," adding he "can't wait" for Saturday night's concert in Philadelphia because it will be his "first gig as a father."
