LONDON, July 16 (UPI) -- Ronnie Wood's publicist has confirmed the British rock star and Rolling Stones guitarist is seeking treatment for alcohol addiction at a rehab center.

The move comes shortly after media reports claimed the 61-year-old musician had left Jo Wood, his wife of 23 years, for a teen with whom he was having an affair.

"Following Ronnie's continued battle with alcohol he has entered a period of rehab," his spokeswoman told the BBC. "His close family and friends say he is seeking help and look forward to his recovery."

Wood also sought help for his dependence on alcohol in 2002 by checking into a clinic to undergo treatment, and cocaine addiction led to the musician having a plastic septum inserted in his nose in 1975, the BBC said.

Ian McLagan, keyboard player for Wood's former band Faces, recently stated the surviving members of the band were considering a reunion.
