LOS ANGELES, July 16 (UPI) -- Comic actress Jennifer Coolidge is to appear in the U.S. police drama, "The Closer," TNT announced Wednesday.

Coolidge is best known for her roles in "American Pie," "Best in Show," "Legally Blonde" and "For Your Consideration."

She is to appear in an episode entitled, "Dial M for Provenza," and will play Angie Serabian, "a none-too-bright woman married to the rich owner of a car dealership who winds up ensnared in an undercover sting operation," the network said.

"The Closer," starring Kyra Sedgwick, J.K. Simmons and G.W. Bailey, began its fourth season this week.
