LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- U.S. reality TV starlet Nicole Richie says her 2005 novel "The Truth About Diamonds" is going to be made into a television series.

The 26-year-old, adopted daughter of singer Lionel Richie is best known for co-starring with her fellow socialite, Paris Hilton, in the series "The Simple Life."

"I would definitely produce and definitely be in the show," Nicole Richie told E! News about the upcoming small-screen adaptation of her book. "I don't know if I need to be the star of this show. I've got a lot going on right now."

Richie and her boyfriend, musician Joel Madden, are the parents of a 7-month-old daughter, Harlow Winter Kate Madden.

Richie told E! News she is also working on her second book.

"I'm not telling you," Richie said when asked about the plot. "It's not finished."
