LOS ANGELES, July 11 (UPI) -- Two HBO executives said it is unlikely movie versions of its former U.S. television drama "Deadwood" will be made.
Zap2it.com said two films intended to wrap up the Western series, which ended two years ago, were said to be in the works back when HBO was run by a different management team.
However, Richard Plepler, co-president of HBO, and Michael Lombardo, president of the cable channel's programming group, said Thursday afternoon that plan is now unlikely.
"I think it's safe to report that the likelihood of a 'Deadwood' movie happening is slim to none," Zap2it.com quoted Plepler as saying.
Lombardo added plans for the "Deadwood" movies never got much past a "discussion stage."
"Some of it was a function of time, some of it was a function of intervening events," Lombardo said. "It just did not ever really come together."
