Film star Mordyukova dead at 83

MOSCOW, July 7 (UPI) -- Russian film star Nona Mordyukova has died in a hospital at the age of 83, her sister Natalya announced.

Nona Mordyukova's film credits include "The Young Guard," "Zhuravushka," "The Collective Farm Director," "Yekaterina Voronina," "The Volunteers," "Balzaminov's Marriage," "The Kinsfolk" and "Mother."

Mordyukova's sister told Itar-Tass the actress died Sunday night after suffering numerous illnesses, including diabetes.

Born in the village of Konstantinovskaya in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, Nona Mordyukova

graduated from the State Institute of Cinema in 1950.

She is included in the British encyclopedia "Who is Who?" on a list of the most outstanding actresses of the 20th century, Itar-Tass noted.
