DETROIT, July 1 (UPI) -- A fire that seriously damaged Madonna's childhood home in Rochester Hills, Mich., is being treated as suspicious, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

The Detroit Free Press said arson investigators are studying the blaze that ruined the two-story brick home last Friday.

Rochester Hills Fire Chief Ron Crowell told the newspaper: "We brought it under control in about 10 minutes. There was significant loss."

The current owners of the house weren't home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, Crowell said.

He added that neighbors and the home's owners said the house was where the pop star grew up.
