NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Mindy Kaling, one of the stars of the U.S. version of "The Office," is planning to preside over "The Office Games" in Scranton, Pa., organizers said.

Kaling, who portrays bubbly Kelly Kapoor on the sit-com, is to act as host of the July 19 festivities in the town where the show's fictional Dunder Mifflin paper company is set.

The day is to kick off with a 2K Fun Run in office attire and end with a beet-eating contest.

The events, which will take place in and around The Mall at Steamtown in Scranton, were organized to mark the launch of Pressman Toy's official NBC licensed games based on "The Office" -- "The Office DVD Board Game" and "The Office Trivia Game," representatives for Pressman Toy said Monday.

Kaling is also a writer and co-executive producer on the show.

"There's no better place than Scranton to serve as the springboard for our new games based on 'The Office,'" Pressman Toy President Jim Pressman said in a statement.

"Scranton is honored to have been selected as the first city in America whose retailers will stock 'The Office Trivia Game' and 'DVD Board Game,'" Scranton Mayor Christopher Doherty added. "We'll be rolling out the beet red carpet for Ms. Kaling."
