LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) -- The cast of the U.S. TV series "Desperate Housewives" is to welcome former "Boomtown" star Neal McDonough to its ranks, an industry newspaper reports.

McDonough, who played Deputy District Attorney David McNorris on the short-lived NBC series, will join the cast of the popular ABC drama next season, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

The "Tin Man" star will be a regular on the series, playing a white-collar worker who may become romantically involved with "Housewives" mainstay Nicolette Sheridan's character.

The Reporter said in addition to the "Medical Investigation" star, "Housewives" added actor Gale Harold to its regular cast for the forthcoming new season.

Harold is to play the character Ken, who previously was seen on the drama kissing "Housewives" star Teri Hatcher's character.
