Springer, Mel B. to co-host Miss Universe

NEW YORK, June 24 (UPI) -- U.S. television personality Jerry Springer and British singer Mel B. have been named co-hosts of the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Vietnam.

The beauty contest is to air live on NBC and to be simulcast on Telemundo from Vietnam July 13.

"This is obviously a great honor and getting to work alongside Mel B. makes it even better," Springer said in a statement.

"I'm thrilled to be a co-host of the Miss Universe Pageant," added Mel B., Melanie Brown of the Spice Girls. "I believe the diversity and dedication that the pageant brings inspires and empowers young women across the globe."
