The New York Post reported Sunday that 19-year-old Cambridge University student Catherine Banner considers comparisons between her works and those of famed author JK Rowling to be "quite daunting."
"I've heard those comparisons," said Banner, who is working on a third book in the series. "It's such an honor, but it's also quite daunting."
In a fashion similar to those of Rowling's world-famous "Potter" novels, Banner's new series of books follows a teenager with magical powers who learns his family's history through a mysterious book.
A number of Web sites dedicated to "Potter" fans have begun touting the new literary works as the heir apparent to the popular entertainment franchise, the Post said.
Banner said she was equally surprised there has already been some interest in creating a movie based on her first book "The Eyes of a King."
"It's kind of in the early stages, but people are talking about it," she said. "It would be quite strange."
