LOS ANGELES, June 21 (UPI) -- Pop singer Britney Spears appeared unhappy and withdrawn on a flight home to Los Angeles after witnessing the birth of her niece, a fellow passenger says.

The passenger on Spears' flight from New Orleans to Los Angeles said Spears kept her eyes shielded behind sunglasses and attempted to rest during Friday's flight, People magazine reported.

"Britney didn't seem happy and was mostly resting," the passenger told People. "She kept her sunglasses on for most of the flight."

The singer had been in New Orleans to witness her sister Jamie Lynn give birth to a daughter, but returned home with her father Jamie.

People said paparazzi immediately descended on the singer as she arrived at a Los Angeles airport and Spears was repeatedly bumped while attempting to navigate her way through the media traffic jam.
