ATLANTA, June 19 (UPI) -- Hip-hop artist Jay Jenkins, who is known professionally as Young Jeezy, was arrested this week for allegedly driving under the influence, Atlanta police said.
MTV.com reported the 31-year-old rapper was arrested early Wednesday and charged with DUI, speeding, reckless driving, driving with no license plates on his car, driving with an open container and driving with no proof of insurance.
Police said they stopped Jenkins along Atlanta's Buford Highway for speeding, then noticed his car had no license plates.
"Everything just went from there," police spokesman Officer James Polite told MTV.com.
Jenkins, who was released on an undisclosed bail amount hours after his arrest, is due in court July 17 to answer the charges.
