WASHINGTON, June 12 (UPI) -- A representative for Jennifer Lopez said the singer and actress went to Washington this week to talk to the staffs of senators about issues like healthcare.
Lopez drew a crowd of spectators when she was seen entering presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama's U.S. Senate office this week. However, a publicist for the star of "Maid in Manhattan" and "The Wedding Planner" said Lopez did not, contrary to some reports, visit with Obama.
"Tuesday afternoon, Ms. Lopez was on (Capitol) Hill with her sister to meet with staff members of several senators to discuss issues she is interested in, such as healthcare and education," her representative told People.com. "She did visit Obama's office, but the senator was not there. She did not meet him, but did discuss healthcare with members of his staff.
"She just came in for the meeting and departed," Obama's spokesman told People.com. "It was not campaign-related."
