George Michael to retire from touring

LONDON, June 12 (UPI) -- British pop star George Michael reportedly doesn't plan to tour again after he finishes up his current 25 Live Tour.

Michael has dubbed his two concert dates at Earl's Court in London this August "The Final Two." It is understood Michael will retire from touring after the London shows, although he may play occasional concerts and charity events, the BBC said.

The name "The Final Two" refers to the sold-out 1986 Wembley Stadium show called "The Final," which was the last time Michael and Andrew Ridgeley appeared together as the pop duo Wham!

"These very special shows will naturally feature Michael's hits, some tracks not previously performed in Britain," a statement on his Web site said. "These shows are truly not to be missed by any George Michael fan."

The concerts will feature "a stunning new stage set" and both shows will be filmed, the statement said.

The 25 Live Tour began in Barcelona in 2006 and has since been seen by more than 1.3 million fans across Europe, the BBC said.

Michael is scheduled to head to North America later this summer and wrap up the tour in London in August.
