NEW YORK, June 10 (UPI) -- Columbia Records said Tuesday a release date has been set for "Shine Through It," Hollywood actor Terrence Howard's debut album.
The CD, which features new music written, produced and performed by Howard, is to be made available in stores and online Sept. 2, the record label said.
Howard is best known for his roles in "Iron Man," "August Rush," "The Brave One," "Hustle & Flow" and "Crash."
"Music has always been the road that leads to where I'm headed," Howard said in a statement. "Film is my vocation, my 9 to 5. In the movies, I'm doing what somebody else is asking me to do. Music is my own personal form of expression. My responsibility, like the sun's, is to shine. Even if the planet is covered with clouds, I must say what I have to say."
