Jury selection begins in R. Kelly child pornography trial

CHICAGO, June 10 (UPI) -- The defense in R. Kelly's child pornography trial in Chicago has rested its case.

The R&B singer's lawyers wrapped up their arguments Monday after two days and 12 witnesses, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Kelly is charged with videotaping himself allegedly having sex with an underage girl some time between 1998 and 2000. Kelly's attorneys maintain the female on the tape isn't who prosecutors say she is and the man having sex with her isn't Kelly.

The trial was expected to continue as prosecutors reportedly planned to return their video expert to court to address claims made by Kelly's lawyers.

Neither Kelly nor the woman whom prosecutors said appeared on the tape as a teen are expected to testify during the remainder of the trial, the Sun-Times said.
