'Roseanne' honored at TV Land Awards

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 9 (UPI) -- The casts of the classic sitcoms "Roseanne" and "The Golden Girls" were honored Sunday night at the "TV Land Awards" ceremony in Santa Monica, Calif.

The sixth annual event is to air next Sunday on TV Land.

Steve Carell, Justin Timberlake, Robin Williams, Dick Van Dyke, Samuel L. Jackson, Teri Hatcher, Penny Marshall, Cindy Williams, William Shatner, Henry Winkler, Kathy Griffin, Ed Asner, Jack Klugman, Kim Alexis and Beverly Johnson all appeared for the taping of the show.

Honorees included Mike Myers, who won the Legacy of Laughter Award; Garry Marshall, who took home the Legend Award; and the cast of "Roseanne," which picked up the Innovator Award.

Lionel Richie, who grabbed the Icon Award, also took the stage to perform a medley of his greatest hits.

The cast of "The Golden Girls" earned the Pop Culture Award, Jonathan Winters garnered the Pioneer Award and "The Office" won the Future Classic Award.

As host Vanessa Williams sang the song "I'm Flying" from "Peter Pan," classic TV stars Barry Williams, Bernie Kopell, Gary Coleman, Jerry Mathers, Jimmie "JJ" Walker, Dawn Wells, Alison Arngrim, Ron Palilo and William Katt "flew" above the crowd on wires as their characters, TV Land said Monday.
