NEW YORK, June 9 (UPI) -- The New York State Attorney General's office said it is investigating a children's charity run by the boyfriend of Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway.

The New York Post said Andrew Cuomo's investigators recently served subpoenas seeking financial documents from the Follieri Foundation. However, Cuomo's office offered no details as to why it is looking into the Manhattan-based charity, which claims to offer vaccinations to Third World children.

Hathaway previously served as a board member for the charity run by her boyfriend, Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri, but left the seat last year, the Post said.

Follieri's representative, Melanie Bonvicino, told the newspaper: "Raffaello Follieri and his attorney, Cyrus Vance (Jr.), have been cooperating fully with the Attorney General's Office to satisfy their routine inquiry. Furthermore, Mr. Follieri looks forward to concluding this matter in a timely and expeditious manner ... so that he may continue to fulfill his ongoing philanthropic endeavors worldwide."

Follieri was arrested in Manhattan earlier this year on charges he bounced a $215,000 check, which was allegedly written against an account that reportedly had only $39 in it.

The charges against Follieri were dropped after he paid the debt, the Post said.
