Ford to play scientist in 'Crowley'

LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- Hollywood actor Harrison Ford reportedly has signed on to play a maverick scientist in the upcoming big-screen drama "Crowley."

Variety.com said "What Happens in Vegas" director Tom Vaughan is in talks to direct the film, which is based on the true story of John and Aileen Crowley, whose two children suffered from a rare genetic disorder.

Ford, who is also executive producer of the movie, is to play a researcher with a potential cure, the entertainment industry trade paper said.

The film's screenplay was inspired by a Wall Street Journal article and book, "The Cure," by Geeta Anand.

Ford can be seen in the blockbuster action-adventure movie, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
