VICTORIA GOTTI BOOKSIGNING

NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- The publishing house HarperCollins said it is suing Victoria Gotti in New York because she accepted a $70,000 advance, but failed to write a promised memoir.

Gotti, who is the daughter of late mob boss John Gotti, co-starred with her sons in the TV reality series "Growing Up Gotti."

The New York Daily News reported that HarperCollins is suing Victoria Gotti in Manhattan Supreme Court because she signed a contract in 2005 promising to submit a manuscript for an untitled memoir later that year, but instead delivered two outlines for the book. The outlines were rejected as unacceptable because they "were not capable of producing a complete manuscript," the report said.

Gotti's literary agent, Frank Weiman, told the Daily News he plans to secure another book deal for his client, after which she will return the advance paid by HarperCollins.

Weiman said Gotti made her book deal with former publisher Judith Regan and noted Gotti canceled the contract after Regan and other editors Gotti had worked with left HarperCollins.
