LOS ANGELES, June 5 (UPI) -- Canadian-born comic actor Seth Rogen reportedly is set to play the title character in the superhero movie "The Green Hornet."

Rogen, who started out on TV's "Freaks & Geeks," has gone on to appear in the raunchy, but sweet comedy blockbusters "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Superbad" and "Knocked Up."

EW.com said Rogen will play Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's newspaper and fights crime at nights with his sidekick, Kato, in the new Sony film.

Rogen and his "Superbad" co-writer Evan Goldberg are penning the "Hornet" movie, which is due in theaters June 25, 2010, EW.com said.
