LOS ANGELES, June 5 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan is set to star in "Labor Pains," a new big-screen comedy due to start shooting next week in Burbank, Calif.

Variety.com said Lohan will play an assistant who works in a publishing house and pretends to be pregnant to keep her boss from firing her.

Lara Shapiro is directing the film, which will co-star Chris Parnell, Cheryl Hines, Luke Kirby and Connie Britton, the entertainment industry trade paper said.

"It is a very different role for me and I look forward to the challenges it will present, and I love working on comedies," Lohan told Variety.com.

"I didn't know Lindsay before this, but we looked each other in the eye three months ago, and she has done everything I could have asked," said producer Rick Schwartz.
