Stone not welcome at Shanghai film fest

SHANGHAI, June 4 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Sharon Stone is not welcome at the Shanghai Film Festival after she made disparaging remarks about China, a festival representative said.

Stone wondered aloud during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival in France last month if China's devastating May 12 earthquake might be karma for the way China treats Tibet.

The "Basic Instinct" actress apologized after her comments sparked outrage, however, the Chinese headquarters of Christian Dior still removed her from its ad campaigns in China.

TMZ.com said a Shanghai Film Festival representative announced Wednesday that not only is Stone not welcome at this year's event, but she won't be invited back any time soon.
