LOS ANGELES, May 30 (UPI) -- U.S. television actors and "Pretty in Pink" co-stars Jon Cryer and James Spader have been cast in Robert Rodriguez's upcoming movie "Shorts."

Cryer, who played Duckie in "Pink," now stars in the sit-com "Two and a Half Men." Spader, who played Steff in the 1986 teen romantic comedy, now stars in the law-firm dramedy "Boston Legal."

The Hollywood Reporter said the actors have joined the cast of writer-director-producer Rodriguez's new family adventure, which co-stars William H. Macy and Leslie Mann.

The film is to be shot on location in Austin, Texas, the entertainment industry trade paper said.
