Quincy Jones tapes PSAs for Red Cross

WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- Music mogul Quincy Jones is helping mobilize assistance for survivors of the earthquake in China and the cyclone that hit Myanmar, the American Red Cross said.

Jones recently recorded several public services announcements for the aid organization.

"This is a critical time for the survivors of the earthquake in China and cyclone in Myanmar, which devastated lives, homes and dreams," Jones said. "By contributing to the American Red Cross, people can help their neighbors around the world get back on their feet and give them greater hope for the future."

"We are deeply grateful to Mr. Jones for supporting our efforts to help people in China and Myanmar," David Meltzer, senior vice president of International Services for the American Red Cross, said in a statement. "Through his compassion, Mr. Jones is demonstrating the same leadership and humanitarian spirit that has earned him so much respect in the entertainment industry, and his efforts will directly improve people's lives in their time of need."
