Rapper Xzibit's newborn son dies

LOS ANGELES, May 27 (UPI) -- A posting on Xzibit's MySpace blog says the U.S. rapper's newborn son has died.

TMZ.com said the posting announced that Xavier Kingston Joiner, who was born prematurely May 15, died early Monday morning.

The rapper, whose real name is Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, said his son's lungs weren't strong enough to handle regular oxygen on their own and the baby died after a difficult week.

Joiner, a 33-year-old recording artist from Detroit, served as host of the MTV show "Pimp My Ride." He reportedly will be seen this summer in the new "X-Files" film.
