New mixed martial arts show on tap

CHICAGO, May 27 (UPI) -- Kimbo Slice, a fighter who has become a YouTube sensation, reportedly will star in a new U.S. mixed martial arts TV series.

Slice will be seen on "CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights" starting Saturday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"When you see the action in there, it's too intense to look away," CBS cage-side reporter Karyn Bryant told the Tribune. "As a woman, maybe I'm a little more sensitive at times, going, 'Uh, that guy's a really great guy and I just saw him get beat up.' That goes away quickly when you look at the intensity and athleticism and the beauty of what they're doing in there. It certainly is primal."

Sports announcer Gus Johnson has been hired to call the series, the newspaper said.

"My goal, with fresh eyes, is to be able to tell fans that haven't been watching mixed martial arts what's going on," Johnson said. "What is an armbar or a triangle choke or a guillotine or a rear naked choke."
