LONDON, May 23 (UPI) -- Amy Winehouse's representatives are denying a media report claiming the British soul singer is planning to seek treatment for her addiction to drugs in Israel.

The Jewish Chronicle reported that Winehouse was planning to have an operation, in which doctors block the opioid receptors in the brain and nervous system in an attempt to prevent further dependence on drugs, at the Barzilai Medical Center.

The newspaper quoted Eliezer Cohen, chairman of the Israel Anti-Drug Authority, as saying: "(Her representatives) spoke to a renowned Israeli institution and an Israeli professor who conducts a very special and effective method. She has requested to come to him to do this method, since it's a method that is suitable for her."

However, the singer's management told the Daily Telegraph the story was "nonsense."

Chris Goodman, a spokesman for the singer, said Winehouse had "no plans" to seek treatment in Israel.

"These are just old rumors," he told the Telegraph. "She's going back in the studio and has absolutely no plans to go abroad for treatment."
