OCALA, Fla., May 21 (UPI) -- A Florida judge has ordered Hollywood actor Wesley Snipes to surrender by June 3 to start serving his three-year federal prison sentence on tax charges.

The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Snipes's lawyer Daniel Meachum referred to the date in federal documents he filed in seeking an appellate bond for Snipes.

The bond, if granted, would keep the actor out of prison until a higher court reviews the defense's arguments against his sentence, the newspaper said.

Snipes, 45, is the star of the "Blade" film trilogy, "White Men Can't Jump" and "New Jack City."
