JERUSALEM, May 18 (UPI) -- A 30-year-old cosmetician has won Israeli television's first attempt to replicate the popular reality TV series "Survivor," Ynetnews.com reported.
Na'ama Kesari became the first Israeli "Survivor" champion Saturday by beating out fellow competitors Noam Tor and Dan Mano on the final episode of the show's freshman season, the Israeli Web site said Sunday.
Kesari was a surprise winner, as series followers generally agreed that both Tor and Mano were stronger competitors. Kesari had been criticized for her reported decision to leave her 7-month-old child and sick father at home to take part in the grueling island competition.
Kesari won a grand prize worth nearly $300,000 -- including a new Jeep and an unspecified amount of cash, Ynetnews.com said.
