LAS VEGAS, May 18 (UPI) -- Miranda Lambert's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" won the album of the year prize at the Academy of Country Music awards show in Las Vegas Sunday night.
Also nominated in the category were Brad Paisley's "5th Gear," Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates," Taylor Swift's "Taylor Swift" and Rodney Atkins' "If You're Going Through Hell."
"I was not expecting this at all," Lambert said upon collecting her award. "I was sitting right behind Kenny Chesney and I just don't feel right taking this. But thank you so much to my fans and to the industry for accepting me so much, being a little left of center. I'm a songwriter and I poured my heart and soul into this album. It's a part of who I am and thank you for appreciating it."
Meanwhile, Jack Ingram won the award for top new male vocalist, Taylor Swift was named top new female vocalist and the music group Lady Antebellum picked up the prize for top new duo or vocal group.
Brooks & Dunn won the award for top vocal group and Garth Brooks was honored with the Crystal Milestone Award for his body of work.
