NEW YORK, May 16 (UPI) -- Sirius Satellite Radio says U.S. rock 'n' roll icon Lou Reed is getting his own weekly radio show.

"Lou Reed's New York Shuffle" is to premiere on Sirius Disorder channel 70 at 6 p.m. EDT Sunday.

Music producer Hal Willner, who recently collaborated with Reed on the concert film "Berlin," has been named the show's co-host.

"I've always been a fan of eclectic radio, such as FM radio in the past when you could hear stations play widely divergent music, ranging from rock to country to jazz to opera," Reed said in a statement. "I loved the days when DJs who did their own programming set the bar high. I learned from these DJs and it's a delight, with my friend Hal Willner, to do this type of radio today on Sirius. We will try to bring Sirius' listeners audio from all parts of the world that covers the whole musical spectrum."

"For four decades, Lou Reed has been at the forefront of music innovation," added Scott Greenstein, president of entertainment and sports for Sirius. "We are proud to have a singular talent like Lou join us, and to have Sirius continue to grow as a home for creative freedom on the radio."
