Coldplay announces North American tour

LOS ANGELES, May 9 (UPI) -- The British rock group Coldplay is to kick off its "Viva La Vida" North American concert tour in Philadelphia this summer, Live Nation said Friday.

The series of concerts is to support the band's new album of the same name, which is to be released June 17.

The first stop on Coldplay's tour will be in Philadelphia June 29. The band will then play more than two dozen dates through November.

Before kicking off the tour, Coldplay will play free concerts in London and New York, Live Nation said.
