LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Australian actress Nicole Kidman is planning to produce and star in a film about 1960s-era British pop star Dusty Springfield, Variety.com reported.

Variety.com said the project will reunite Kidman with writer Michael Cunningham, who penned the novel "The Hours."

Kidman won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in the film adaptation of "The Hours."

Cunningham is now writing the script for the as-yet-untitled Springfield movie, the trade paper said.
