LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- Rocker Scott Weiland Monday pleaded no contest to driving under the influence in Los Angeles and was sentenced to eight days in jail, court papers said.
The former lead singer for Velvet Revolver, who recently went back to his old band, the Stone Temple Pilots, entered the plea through his attorney and was not in court, TMZ.com reported.
Weiland, 40, had a 2003 DUI conviction and was arrested on the same charges Nov. 11. His expanding rap sheet includes domestic violence and drug offenses, People noted.
In addition to jail time -- which he must serve before May 28 -- Weiland was fined nearly $2,000 and ordered to attend 18 months of alcohol education classes, People said.
