COLUMBIA, S.C., April 27 (UPI) -- A woman alleging she is the late singer James Brown's widow must submit her young son to a DNA test to prove Brown was his father, a South Carolina judge says.
The judge ruled that to prove Tomi Rae Hynie's 6-year-old child, James Brown II, is actually Brown's youngest son, he must undergo DNA testing within the next 30 days, TMZ.com reported Saturday.
The trustees of Brown's estate are skeptical regarding Hynie's claim despite allegations by her attorney that the Godfather of Soul accepted the boy as his son before his death in 2006.
The attorney has also alleged that since the "Sex Machine" singer's death, Hynie's son has been receiving both insurance and social security benefits.
TMZ.com reported that a longtime Brown friend, Andre White, said in a newspaper interview last month that the singer had undergone a vasectomy in the past.
"It was just common knowledge among all his friends," White said in March.
