NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- Former ABC "The View" co-host Star Jones Wednesday announced she has filed for divorce from her husband Al Reynolds in New York.

Jones released a statement to "Entertainment Tonight" confirming the action and saying, "I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace."

Reynolds released a statement through his attorney saying, "We are taking the high road" in the dissolution of the nearly four-year union.

Jones, 46, filed for divorce in New York Supreme Court on March 26 and the attorney for Reynolds, 39, filed a notice of appearance Tuesday.

Because the action is contested, the records are sealed, "ET" reported.

The couple married in New York on Nov. 13, 2004 in a lavish ceremony before 500 guests.
