FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 23 (UPI) -- Just days out of a New York prison, rapper Foxy Brown stood alone at the defendant's table in a Florida courtroom when her attorney quit Wednesday.

Brown's attorney walked off the case when the rapper born Inga Marchand tried to work out her own plea bargain with the prosecutor in a Fort Lauderdale courtroom, WFOR-TV, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., reported.

The judge told Brown to find a new lawyer and continued the status hearing until May 8.

Brown was arrested for illegally leaving the state of New York, battery and resisting an officer with violence for an incident in Pembroke Pines, Fla., last year. A clerk in a beauty supply store claims the rapper hurled a container of hair glue at her when she told Brown the store was closing, WFOR said.

Brown got out of New York's Rikers Island prison Friday, where she had spent eight months for a probation violation.
