LONDON, April 20 (UPI) -- Authorities raided cells in a London jail amid reports British rocker Pete Doherty did drugs while incarcerated, a prison source says.

The unidentified source said after reports alleged the Babyshambles singer had been photographed using heroin in the Wormwood Scrubs jail, prison authorities conducted a raid of inmates' cells, The Mail on Sunday reported.

The Friday raid uncovered a significant amount of heroin, along with stashes of cocaine and other drugs, the source alleged.

"Drug use is rife but key figures who were supplying the whole jail have now been moved and separated, which means the gang culture will hopefully begin to lose its grip," the source told the Mail.

The 29-year-old singer was jailed in the London for violating conditions of his bail for drug charges. He is serving a 14-week sentence and the source alleged the singer has been willing to pay any price to maintain his drug habit.

"He knows he's being ripped off but all he cares about is a fix," the source alleged.
